4 Reasons to Own Your Website Instead of Using Free Social Media Platforms
Allow me to state my case.

As small business owners, freelancers and creators we should all own our own digital real estate. Here is why it is time to move out of your rented space (i.e. social media platforms) to home ownership (i.e. your website).
We (myself included) have all spent way too much time on ONE reel, perfecting the imagery, perfecting the hook, writing the content and obsessing over the trending audio…to just let it go live and 10 people see it and maybe even a robot. As a business owner (and a new mom) I personally do not have time for that.
This is why I am telling you, If your business lives exclusively on social media, please consider and do yourself a favor, and move your content onto a website platform. This way no one else can decide when they can shut down your social media profile(s), or not push you into the algorithm.
Below I outline a few of GREAT reasons why you should have a website.
1. You Own Your Website
With a website, you can control the font, colors layout and even pop ups. Leads are able to view your portfolio, testimonials and reach out to you through a form. Which in turn allows you to have an email subscriber list to keep in communication with that lead. Every party of your website is under your direction. You own the domain, the files, and the data.
2. Search Engines Work 24/7/365
A website is built for SEO. Every single page of your website can show up in a Google or ChatGPT search result. Which means people are coming to you because they are searching for what you offer. Social media content on the other hand has a shelf life of about 24 to 48 hours. After that, it’s buried under the noise. Yes, is it a total dopamine hit when you get the likes and follows, absolutely. But after that, the content stays flat, and then you are on the hamster wheel again creating and posting.
3. Professionalism and Credibility
Think about the last time you looked for a professional service, and they only had a Facebook profile page. Did you hesitate? Even just a little? I know I do. Having a website shows potential leads that you are a legitimate business, and builds a level of trust, that a social media platform can’t bring.
4. Direct Communication
Conversation begins at the website. With forms you can capture email addresses, phone numbers and names and so much more! Unlike a social media platform. When it goes down, POOF, all your followers go with it.
The Bottom Line
Don’t get me wrong. I do believe social media platforms have their place and are still a great tool for leads to discover you! However, your website is truly the optimal platform for your business.
By investing in your website, you’re building an asset that grows in value every single year.
