4 Ways to Captivate Your Dream Client
Your website isn’t for you, it’s for your dream client.
Building a website with all of your personality is FUN! You find some great inspiration ideas on Pinterest, and you start plugging in colors, and fonts. It totally looks like your business, so why wouldn’t your clients love that?
If a dream client lands on your website and has to dig around to figure out what services you provide, or what type of clientele you serve, it will take 3 seconds for them to close the browser.
Ouch…
Here are some helpful tips to help shift that perspective, and how you can build a website that makes them want to stick around and learn more.
1. Identify the "Problem" You Solve Immediately
When your dream client lands on your website, they are looking for a solution. They are already busy, overwhelmed and trying to find a way to solve their problems.
If your headline is "Welcome to my creative corner," you’ve lost an opportunity. Your headline is prime real estate to tell them who you help *cough* them!
Example of a Good Headline: "I build minimalist, high-converting websites for service providers who are ready to scale."
Your ultimate goal is to let your dream client know they are in the right space, within 3-seconds.
2. Choose Strategy Over Trends
Having a clean minimalist website isn’t boring, it’s a conversion strategy. When clean lines and streamlined layouts are used, you are removing the "noise" that distracts a client from taking action on your website.
When you are designing your website, before putting videos or complex backgrounds, put yourself in your clients’ shoes. Would this distract me from finding the contact me button?
3. Use "Client-First" Copy
Unfortunately, your About page isn’t really about you. REALLY. This page should share who you are, and how you will benefit your client. Let them know your background and how you are organized, a great communicator and understand streamlined processes.
They really don’t need to know your favorite morning drink.
…but if someone is asking it’s lavendar matcha.
4. Create a Clear Dream Client Journey
Your website is the employee who gives potential clients the ultimate tour of your business.
First stop, they need to know what you do and who you serve.
Second, they may want to see the kind of work you do through a portfolio.
Third, next to a portfolio, they may want to see some testimonials.
Fourth, send them over to the service packages you provide.
Fifth & the most important stop, direct them to the inquire, contact me, call us button to fill out that form!
Once the form is filled out, it is up to you to seal the deal with your great personality.
By having a streamlined process this will take that overwhelm away from your client!
Final Thoughts
When you design with your dream clients’ shoes on, you become the obvious choice. You know who they are and what they need. Now all you need to do is show them who you are and how you can help them.
