3 Signs it’s Time to Level Up Your Website
Because it is actually costing you…
As a blooming entrepreneur, taking your website from a blank template to a good enough landing page feels like a badge of honor. You were scrappy and learning the technical side of business along the way. It was a big “to-do” to cross of your list, and you did it! Now, you’re a few years into business, and you’re not quite sure if your website has grown with you, or is quite the asset you think it is.
There does come a time where a basic website stops becoming as much of an asset to you as it should be. If you have been feeling a sense of “website shame” or you’re not getting as many inquiries through your website forms. It might be time to reassess your website.
Below I have outlined 3 signs that it is time to invest in updating your website.
1. You Feel “Website Shame"
You’re at a networking event, or meeting a potential client, and instead of proudly sharing your website, you find yourself directing them to your social media pages instead. This is the definition of Website Shame. When you are reluctant to share your website, it is a clear sign some updates need to be done to make you feel confident in sharing.
The Cost: If you aren’t promoting your website, you are leaving money on the table. Your website should reflect your high level of service, and make your potential clients inquire and book!
2. You’re Spending Time on Admin Tasks
Some examples of admin tasks you are doing that your website could do for you include, emailing newsletters, scheduling, taking payments, or answering a million “quick questions”.
The Cost: Your time is valuable as a business owner. You are leaving money on the table spending time on mundane admin tasks, rather than working on client work or networking for new clients.
3. Your Business Has Evolved, but Your Site Needs an Update
Your business has grown, but your website does not have updated information. Perhaps you now only offer specialty services, your price point has increased, or your branding is no longer quite on point. It is a good time to update.
The Cost: Your website is a direct reflection of your business. If potential clients are confused because your website says one thing, and your conversation with them is another this can break trust and potentially a paying client.
Final Thoughts
Investing in a professional website template can be a quick solution if your website doesnt need a heavy copy and image lift.
However, I would personally recommend hiring a website designer if you need a re-brand, or simply need your copy updated (think services, FAQ’s, prices etc.), and imagery updated (because this falls under those sneaky admin tasks that take up your precious time).
& hey, if you’re looking for a website designer - I hope you consider me.
