Building Traditions: How To Plan A Sweet Mothers Day
Traditions & Gifts.
I had my husband treat me to Mother’s Day last year, while I was 6 months pregnant. So, while this is not my first Mother’s Day, it is just as special.
Becoming a mom has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. It has cracked me open as a human being. You never understand what it means to become a mom until you are one. It is the hardest role you’ll ever have but it is so deeply purposeful. IYKYK.
All mothers deserve to be treated well on Mother’s Day (and every day)!
While I have been thinking about what I would like my Mother’s Day to look like, I thought I would share some of those thoughts here, just in case anyone else might be thinking ahead like me.
Some of the typical ideas have come to mind, physical gifts, courses, events, but there is one idea that has stuck to me. I love the idea of creating a Mother’s Day tradition. Something my spouse and baby can come back to year after year.
Mother’s Day Tradition Ideas
Family Photoshoot: I am enjoying the idea that every mother’s day I get our family together to do some DIY photos, or schedule a date for some micro-photography sessions. I like having pictures of my family (who doesn’t) and thought this would be the perfect way to incorporate this every year for long-lasting memories.

Breakfast in Bed or Dinner Made for Mom: Food is truly the way to the heart. A meal I do not plan or make is a form of love language.
How Dreamy!
Add a small vase with some hand-picked flower from your little one. Literal perfection.

Personalized Gift Basket: Wouldn’t it be fun to have a specific high quality, reusable basket for gifting on special occasions (think mother’s day, father’s day, birthdays etc.). Your babies could put together a handful of items they know you are going to love. I thought this was such a thoughtful gift, and really shows you what your babies believe your favorite things are. They could gift you your favorite snacks, drinks, books, mugs etc.!
Book a Special Outing for Mom: Every year your spouse and babies could choose a special outing for you if you are looking for a little more R&R. I am thinking spa day, massage, hair appointment, a trip to Target with a fancy coffee - whatever gets you out of the house without a diaper bag.
Your babies and spouse know you best, so they can take these ideas and make it their own special gift! All you need to do is plant the seed.
